I ordered an HP mini

I have been fascinated with Netbooks since they came out. However; I am not one to jump on a bandwagon so I decided to wait until one came out that was just what I wanted.

There are a couple of requirements that I had when looking for a Netbook.

  1. It had to have a full size keyboard, or as close as I could get
  2. It had to run Windows (sorry Linux but all my programs are on Windows)
  3. It had to have both Ethernet and Wireless
  4. It had to remove large ports like VGA to save space.
  5. It had to not have a glossy screen

So when I saw the HP mini it came as close to meeting all my requirements as I could hope. The only requirement that it fails on is the glossy screen. However, it will be easy to get a screen protector that eliminates the gloss.

So I placed my order for the Mini on January 20th. It is still in production and the estimated ship date is February 4th. I am very excited to get it and I will definitely post more information when it comes.

Here are some pictures of what my Mini will look like.

Update 2/4/09: Well the 4th has come and gone and the status is still “in production.” I am really bummed.

Update 2/5/09: I just got an email this morning letting me know the Mini has shipped. Guess were it is coming from? Shanghai China!!! I should have it in 5-7 days, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Update 2/9/09: It’s here, I just took delivery of the HP Mini. That was fast shipping. I will be posting some unboxing pictures later today or tomorrow.
