Review: Straight Talk T-Mobile vs AT&T

    by Ryan McLaughlin ~ March 2nd, 2013

I recently bought a LG Nexus 4 and because it is unlocked I wanted to use it on a prepaid phone plan. I had previously been using PagePlus, but because this is not a Verizon phone they do not support it. So I had to find a new carrier. After considering my options I went with Straight Talk because they have unlimited data and talk for just $45 a month. However Straight talk uses either T-Mobile or AT&T and I had to choose one before I could use it

Review: Callpod Chargepod charging station

by Ryan McLaughlin ~ April 13th, 2009

I am willing to bet that most people that read this website have lots of portable electronic devices. This includes cell phones, gaming devices, organizers and much more. If you have a significant other, than you have all their devices as well. Since each device comes with its own charging cable it is really easy for them to get lost, tangled, and become a big mess. So how do you deal with this? Consolidate. Callpod has a new device called the Chargepod that might just help you do that

HP Updates MediaSmart Server Software

by Ryan McLaughlin ~ April 13th, 2009

HP today announced the release of a software update for the HP MediaSmart Server (EX485/EX487 models), providing remote video streaming and video conversion of unprotected content.

If you are anything like me, you store everything on your computer. I have recently started ripping all my DVDs and CDs and storing them on a server and that takes up a lot of space. My motherboard only has 4 SATA ports and even though I have 4x 1TB drives, I am quickly running out of space. So what do I do? I really don’t want to upgrade my motherboard and case to fit more hard drives. My only other option is to get an external hard drive enclosure. One such enclosure is the Sans Digital TR8M-B 8 Bay JBOD Enclosure

Review: Acer X223W 22″ Monitor

by Thomas Jump ~ March 10th, 2009

Recently I found myself in need of a new monitor. I needed a new monitor both for my desktop, so I could play high-paced games. When I play games I like to place my monitor 1 – 2 feet away, but I also want to see the entire screen clearly so I can react to any action without turning my head. I also needed the a second monitor to place above and behind my laptop, about 3 – 4 feet away, to be able to read the contents clearly on the screen while working on research projects. As I didn’t want to buy two monitors, I was looking for portability and ease of use in one monitor. I wanted the flexibility to use the new monitor with my laptop at times and with my desktop at other times. So the monitor had to be light and easy to move without getting smudges or fingerprints on the screen

With the Plustek BookReader V100 scanner those paper documents can be turned into audio files that you can listen to at your leisure
